SLVHS Students Shine at the Annual SLV Rotary Speech Contest

SLV Rotary Club sponsors the Rotary Speech Contest every year. This year the theme was "Be the Inspiration" and needed to incorporate at least one of the principles of the Rotary 4-Way Test as follows:

Of the things we think, say or do:
1 - Is is the truth?
2 - Is it fair to all concerned?
3 - Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4 - Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The speeches were required to be the original work of the contestant and be between 4 and 5 minutes in length.

The top three winners were:
1st Place - Malakai Lawton
2nd Place - Paris Shewfelt
3rd Place - Skylar Berggren

Malakai (first place winner) now has the opportunity to advance to the Rotary's Area Speech Contest where he will compete against other Rotary local contest winners for a First Place prize of $200. The winner of that competition will then advance to the Rotary's Regional Competition for an opportunity to win $1,000.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the students that participated in the Rotary Speech Contest!
