Mark was well known around the high school campus and SLV community as a coach where he officiated Volleyball for over 44 years. He had officiated more than 90 CCS matches, 60 NorCal matches, including 10 championships, and one state final. He also supported other athletic programs as a volunteer and coach. His dedication to the athletic programs earned him the “Golden Whistle” in 2023.
Mark was always a well-liked instructional aide, providing support to our high school students and helping them grow as an individual both academically and socially. His mainstay and support will be greatly missed across the SLV community as his impact goes beyond our school. Please know that SLVHS will have additional counseling support for any student who may need to talk to a counselor during the week. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.
Feelings of grief are a natural response to loss; they vary from person to person and from time to time. These feelings may include shock, sadness, loneliness, anxiety and fear, guilt, anger and/or depression. All are normal but need to be addressed when an adult or child are needing additional supports in coping with their grief. Our counseling staff will be available to you and your children as long as necessary. If your child would like to talk to someone to process this or grieve, please contact the front office or have your child let their teacher know and we will help them meet with a counselor.
