MESSAGE REGARDING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY FROM SLV SUPERINTENDENT

The District received a report today of an alleged incident between a female high school student and a suspicious adult male that took place yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, September 10th, in the downtown Boulder Creek area. After the female student got off of the Metro bus (student route), she was approached by a male who attempted to coerce her to go with him. The female student was able to get assistance from a local business owner and the male suspect was last seen getting on the Metro bus towards Highlands. School administration, District administration, our Student Resource Officer, and the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Department are all aware of the incident and are working together to ensure student safety. We are sharing this information with you as a reminder for you to speak with your child about stranger safety, and also to ask you to report any suspicious behavior to local authorities immediately. You can contact the Sheriff’s Office at (831) 471-1121. In a situation that is an emergency, please call 911.

It is important to talk with your children about safe traveling to and from school and what they should do if they are approached by someone that makes them uncomfortable.
