The District received a report today of an alleged incident between a female high school student and a suspicious adult male that took place yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, September 10th, in the downtown Boulder Creek area. After the female student got off of the Metro bus (student route), she was approached by a male who attempted to coerce her to go with him. The female student was able to get assistance from a local business owner and the male suspect was last seen getting on the Metro bus towards Highlands. School administration, District administration, our Student Resource Officer, and the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Department are all aware of the incident and are working together to ensure student safety. With a heavy heart we would like to inform you of the passing of one of our former SLV teachers. Over the weekend, Janelle Geist, a Resource Specialist Teacher for SLVUSD Charter passed away in her sleep. Ms. Geist worked for the SLV TEAM since August 2022 and had recently resigned to focus on the family business.
